If we see two people don't agree and argue a lot, we often tend to say that they 'fight like cat and dog'. There is some truth in that phrase, however we often see that some cats and dogs display friendship. But we know that iguanas and hippos cannot do the same, or do we? Here are some true friendships that you won't believe that they exist.
1.Bubbles The Elephant And Bella The Dog
[caption id="attachment_429" align="aligncenter" width="640"]Bubbles was adopted by the safari in 1983. In 2007, an abandoned puppy Bella joined her in the enclosure. Bubbles, a 9,000-pound elephant, and Bella, the Labrador retriever, are now the very best friends. Bella climbed on an elephant when she was in the water and jumped on its back, thinking that the elephant was a platform. The elephant walked around in the water letting the dog climb over her shoulders and head. The relationship between them and their friendship is complex and hard to understand. It has only been growing stronger and they may bear as an example to all of us. Even eight years later, they still hang out.
Sometimes, they go for long walks together and other times they go for a swim, but at all times, their friendship is completely enthralling to us.
2. Koko The Gorilla And The Kitten All Ball
[caption id="attachment_442" align="aligncenter" width="640"]Koko is known to create her own terms for items using her hand signs, as she communicates in American Sign Language. But that is not the most amazing aspect of Koko; by demonstrating love and affection toward her pet cat, she has shown her most humanizing characteristic. To those who had never seen an animal adopt another animal and keep it as a pet, this was very shocking to see. Koko's love, affection and gentle care for a kitten was astounding. Koko raised All Ball as if it were a gorilla baby and would appear disturbed and uncomfortable when parted from it.
While exploring the world outside, one day, All Ball was struck by a car and killed. After being told that the cat is no more, Koko's mourning process showed just how emotional and deep their relationship was.
3. Torque The Dog And The Owl Shrek
[caption id="attachment_431" align="aligncenter" width="640"]Torque was a 6 month old puppy when he became friends with the owl Shrek. Shrek was taken away from his mother, for his own protection, when he was only 3 days old because his handlers were afraid that she would hurt him. They feared that Shrek’s mother would eat her first offspring if she became stressed. Torque is extremely protective of him, like Shrek was his own family. They live together at the home of John Picton, a falconer who claims that they often spend time curled together and watching TV on the couch.
Now at the home of head falconer John Picton, Torque has again adopted a new baby bird, and again it is an owl. We have no doubts that he is going to be the best dad ever.
4. Snake And A Hamster
[caption id="attachment_432" align="aligncenter" width="640"]In a zoo, in the terrarium of a rat snake called Aochan, who was not willing to eat frozen rats, a hamster was placed. Aochan, a rat snake, would be expected to make a meal off a hamster, instead, left it alone. Now, the gray hamster and more than a meter long snake are roommates, living and sleeping together in a heated glass box .The moment it was put it in the cage, the snake seemed to have no interest in eating it, but in making friends with the hamster.
As the hamster does not seem to be afraid of this reptile, the hamster was called Gohan by his keepers, meaning ‘Meal’, and soon the odd friendship became the zoo's main attraction .
5. The Crow Moses And Kitten Cassie
[caption id="attachment_438" align="aligncenter" width="640"]One day, a family was seated on their front porch and saw a kitten at a distance. The kitty came to them and they noticed that the little cat was ill. But the cat didn't come alone on their property, as the family noticed a strange nurse taking care of the kitten. The strange nurse was actually a crow who was seen bringing the starving kitten worms to feed on, and protecting the cat from cars and other dangers. This crow had basically adopted the kitten! The crow that was given the name Moses, had literally taken the stray kitten under her wing.
Finally, Cassie started eating an actual cat food and sleeping inside the house. Each morning the crow would peck his beak against the door until they let the cat out to play with him.
6. Deer And Goose
[caption id="attachment_434" align="aligncenter" width="640"]The staff of the Forest Lawn Cemetery saw that an unusual friendship had evolved between a Canadian goose and a deer. While the goose sits on her eggs in a large urn, the deer keeps an eye on the eggs and the goose. One day, a goose sat down to incubate her eggs while mysteriously she was joined by a male deer and began to guard the goose. When somebody came close or passed by the bird he would ward off the threat by interposing himself protectively. Until the eggs hatched, this strange behavior continued.
As soon as the mother goose began to move around with her young ones, the deer wandered off alone into the forest. The next year, the same thing happens when these strange parents meet again.
7. Hippo Owen And Tortoise Mzee
[caption id="attachment_326" align="aligncenter" width="640"]After being found by the wildlife rangers, the hippo was taken to an animal sanctuary. The rangers say that Owen would not have survived alone in the wild. When he came in, Owen’s keepers decided that he would share a habitat with Mzee, an ancient 100-year-old tortoise. As the tortoise has a dark gray color similar to grown hippos, Owen started to go to her. The keepers said that Owen behaved towards Mzee as if the tortoise was his mother. According to the park officials, the pair has since become inseparable, even though the tortoise initially hissed at him, warning him to stay away.
They would sleep and bath together, and Owen would lick Mzee’s face. Later Owen became protective of Mzee and threatened anyone who approached the tortoise.
